Bangladesh RMG Exports Rise in Q1 FY27

The nations ready-made garment sector recorded an increase in total exports during the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. This upward trend is primarily driven by sales of items that have long dominated the export rankings. Conversely, shipments of relatively high-value clothing are advancing at a sluggish pace. Some specific product categories experienced a decrease in output volume. Consequently, although aggregate export earnings have risen, the composition of the trade remains uneven. The data indicates that growth relies heavily on traditional staples rather than premium goods. This structural imbalance suggests that future earnings gains may be limited if the expansion of high-value segments continues at its current trajectory. The sector faces a challenge in diversifying its revenue streams beyond established product lines.
