Bangladesh to Surpass India in Per Capita GDP

Bangladesh is projected to overtake India in nominal per capita GDP this year, with its per capita GDP expected to reach $2,886 compared to $2,749 for India, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The reversal of the trend is noteworthy, as Bangladesh has made significant economic progress over the past two decades, primarily due to the expansion of its readymade garment (RMG) industry and strong remittance inflows. Bangladesh’s economic development is driven by strategic focus on these sectors, which have contributed significantly to its economic growth and improved living standards for its citizens.
